The Saudi Ministry of Education and the Saudi Research and Media Group signed a memorandum of cooperation on the “Arabic Manga” project, under the auspices of Dr. Hamad bin Muhammad Al-Sheikh; The Minister of Education, in the presence of Jumana Al-Rashed, CEO of the Saudi Research and Media Group.
This memorandum comes within the framework of supporting culture and entertainment knowledge in the Kingdom through “Manga Arabia”; Which presents an ambitious cultural project and a reliable, safe and accessible source for all, through creative productions inspired by the culture and authentic values of Saudi society, and others translated from international works produced in Japan that contribute to enriching the national content with purposeful creative content of high quality, elevating the creative sense of readers, and available to all individuals family, and an interesting and attractive job for all age groups.
The “Arabic Manga” project will be supported by the Ministry of Education in providing the “Arabic Manga for Kids” magazine, in both print and digital versions, free of charge for all primary and middle schools, and benefiting from it in educational curricula and student activities, and holding various competitions among school students, including storytelling and character design.
On the sidelines of the signing of the memorandum, Dr. Hamad bin Muhammad Al Al-Sheikh, the Saudi Minister of Education, said: “The aim of the memorandum of cooperation is to instill appreciation for local creative works, enhance children’s and youth’s awareness of national culture and traditions, and open new horizons for them in the cultural and creative sectors. To contribute positively to the economic development of the Kingdom, and to enhance the competitiveness of students’ talents on a global scale, based on the Ministry’s belief in the importance of spreading creative materials to our young generations, empowering and motivating them to build the future.”
For her part, Jumana Al-Rashed, CEO of the Saudi Research and Media Group, said: “Our strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education today represents an important milestone in providing new avenues for creativity and innovation for young people, by expanding the reach of the Arabic Manga magazine for young people to more than four million students. in the primary and intermediate levels, and their schools throughout the Kingdom.”
Dr. Essam Bukhari, Editor-in-Chief of “Arabic Manga” explained the importance of the memorandum of cooperation in supporting the access of “Arabic Manga” content to the younger generations in Saudi Arabia, which contributes to increasing the number of reading hours for them.
He said: “Saudi Arabia was ranked eleventh on the list of the most read countries in the world, and this agreement will contribute to achieving the desired goal of raising the Kingdom’s classification to the top five countries in the reading rate in the world, as well as contributing to attracting more readers, and raising reading hours in the world.
