The head of the Corona epidemic crisis cell in Jordan, Brigadier General Mazen Al-Faraya, announced on Sunday the reopening of four border crossings with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Israel and the occupied West Bank, starting from Thursday.

Al-Faraya said in a press conference that “the government took a decision yesterday to reorganize the movement of passengers and trucks through some land border crossings as of next Thursday.”

He explained, “The border crossings concerned are the two border posts of Al-Omari and Al-Mawwara (with Saudi Arabia) and the Sheikh Hussein Bridge crossings and the King Hussein Bridge (with the Palestinian territories and Israel).”

As for the Al-Omari crossing, Al-Faraya said that it will continue to receive freight traffic, and truck drivers will be required to conduct a (BCR) check five days before their arrival to the Kingdom, as the compulsory reservation of truck drivers will stop and they will undergo a second PCR check at the border post at To be followed by a home stone for a week. ”

He explained that, “If any of them is found injured, they will resort to home isolation or transportation to the hospital, depending on the health status of the injured person.”

Al-Faraya confirmed that “the remaining three border posts will receive limited numbers: 100 people a day at the al-Mudawara and Sheikh Hussein crossings, and 150 people at the King Hussein Bridge Crossing.”

He explained that “those coming to the Kingdom from these crossings must register on the (Visit Jordan) platform and do a (PCR) test five days before their arrival to the Kingdom in order to obtain a QR code that enables them to enter the Kingdom.”

He stressed that “those coming will be allowed to enter the Kingdom with their own car, as it will be sterilized at the border post.”

He explained that “these numbers were determined based on our ability to conduct examinations, infrastructure, and laboratory, to be reviewed on a weekly basis.”

According to Al Faraya, “This decision came in response to the urgent need of many Jordanian citizens coming to the Kingdom who do not have the ability to use the airport.”

He said, “The crossings are no longer a threat in light of the infection registration rates in the Kingdom.”

Jordan had closed its land borders and airports in mid-March to contain the outbreak of the Corona epidemic. Only trucks carrying goods and goods were allowed to cross.

And after it succeeded in reducing injuries in the spring and summer, Jordan has witnessed, since the beginning of September, a record high number of injuries.

In total, as of Saturday evening, 540 deaths and 50 thousand and 750 cases of the new Corona virus had been recorded in the Kingdom.
