Ben Eliyahu said, “A similar operation was carried out in the late 1970s and early 1980s, when Saudi Arabia was interested in purchasing F-15 fighters.”
He said, “The Americans had long conversations with us at the time, and we were able to produce systems on board the fighter, which do not contain things that expose us to danger .. All this had to be done in advance, with the participation of the security services’ employees.”
Israeli Security Minister Benny Gantz accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of hiding the deal from the Israeli security services, but he welcomed the normalization.
For his part, Netanyahu’s office denied in its response to Gantz that there was any condition that Israel agree to the F-35 deal, as a condition for signing the normalization agreement with the UAE.
The UAE signed an agreement to normalize relations with Israel in the middle of last month in Washington and sponsored by US President Donald Trump.
