The Board of Directors of the Saudi Football Association, headed by Yasser Al-Mashal, made several decisions during its meeting, which was held this evening, Thursday, October 8, in the presence of its members.

The results of the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Football Association were as follows:

Review of the report of the participation of Saudi clubs in the AFC Champions League.

– Appointment of the current member of the Discipline and Ethics Committee, Abdulaziz Al-Arifi, as deputy chairperson of the committee, and the appointment of Muhammad Al-Rasheed as a member of the Discipline and Ethics Committee.

Review the financial report for the period from July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020.

Adopting the continuation of the initiative to support and empower the national coach for field work with clubs presented by the technical committee for the new season.

– See the offer made by the General Supervisor of the Sunni groups, Dr. Khaled bin Muqrin, regarding preparations for the upcoming benefits.

Approval of the amendments submitted by the Professional League for the new season, as follows:

1- Continued application of the five substitutions for each team in the match according to the new amendments in the football law adopted by the International Federation during the Corona pandemic.

2- Amending Paragraph (3) of Article (21) of the bylaws of the Saudi Professional League competition to read it as follows:

Each club participating in the competition may include Saudi players from the list of scores lower than the first team’s rank, in every match of the competition, whether they are professionals or amateurs (without an upper limit), provided that they are registered through the electronic system SPLIS.

3- Reviewing the offer submitted by the Social Responsibility and Public Participation Committee, which includes the vision and goals of the new season.

4- Agreeing to extend the agreement signed with the Football Players Friends Association for another year.

5- Adopting a plan for the number of clubs in the local competitions for the coming seasons.

6- The Council commended the report submitted by Bandar Al-Ahmadi on sports training centers and the registration of 109 talents in clubs.

7- Creating a department for observers and assigning a member of the council, Moaid Al-Shehri, to supervise it, and that is concerned with monitoring matches organized under the Saudi Federation.

The number of clubs participating in local competitions during the coming seasons

Reducing the number of Prince Mohammed bin Salman League for the first division for professionals to 18 teams, starting from the next season 2022-2023, so that the number of relegators for the second division will be 5 clubs, and the number of promoters from the second division 3 clubs at the end of the season 2021-2022.

– Increasing the number of second-division clubs to 32 teams divided into two groups, starting from the 2022-2023 season, through the rise of 6 clubs from the third division and the relegation of 4 clubs from the second division at the end of the 2021-2022 season.

The creation of a new league, called the Third Division, consisting of 32 teams and divided into 4 regional groups, starting from the next season 2021-2022.

– Replacing the Regions League to the Fourth Division.
