The Ministry of Sports and Culture launched a campaign to activate the initiative for the Year of Arabic Calligraphy 2020, through the campaign to Arabize names on the shirts of players in the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Professional Cup League clubs in the new football season.
The initiative aims to strengthen the position of Saudi Arabia as the capital of Arabic calligraphy, and to highlight the art of Arabic calligraphy as a stand-alone art that reflects the richness of Arab culture, as well as stimulating the practices of Arabic calligraphy at the level of institutions and individuals, and providing support to specialists and talented in it, and working to spread the culture of using Arabic calligraphy among young people, and unify Efforts of the concerned sectors and individual initiatives that seek to preserve the art of Arabic calligraphy and protect it from disappearing.
For his part, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, Minister of Sports, said, “In light of the continued support of the Crown Prince, I am pleased to announce the participation of the sports sector in the activation of the“ Year of Arabic Calligraphy ”initiative by Arabizing the names on the jerseys of the Prince Muhammad Bin Salman Professional Cup League clubs for the football season. This initiative was well received by the football fans in Saudi Arabia through the social networking site “Twitter”, especially as it comes to embody the Arab identity and be proud of the beauty of Arabic calligraphy.
