The war between Armenia and Azerbaijan is not a mystery, it is simply a proxy war between the Turks and the Russians over the gas fields in the Shah Deniz fields, and behind them Germany and Europe that are pushing for control of gas that does not have Russian citizenship.The military clashes taking place between Armenia and Azerbaijan due to the Nagorno-Karabakh region, which is full of gas and oil fields, gives important indications of what might happen between Greece and Turkey. Or Cyprus and Turkey, even if we note that the common factor of all that is happening in the “gas zone”, so to speak, between Libya and even Azerbaijan, are the Turks who feed the Azerbaijani-Armenian war, the Libyan war and the Syrian war.

They are led by illusions that they believe: they are the heirs to the Ottoman Sultanate, which appeared gas in some of the lands it occupied, and therefore Erdogan became convinced that he has the right to share the owners of those lands in their livelihoods.

In 1999, gas was discovered in the Shah Deniz field, 70 km southeast of the Azerbaijani capital, but a more important discovery took place in 2001 that raised the importance of the field and the gas of the Caspian Sea in the world markets.

Of course, gas has become the main player in Western economy and politics, especially the European economy, and Turkey finds itself marginalized and out of the game because it does not have any energy source, but at the same time it has the corridors through which gas can pass through to Europe.

And because the energy market game is very big, the Turks tried to isolate the Qatari gas supply through pipelines, but its passage through Saudi Arabia and Syria disrupted the project, which was a major reason for the destruction of Syria and the attempt to attack Saudi Arabia.

Russia is unique in supplying energy from gas to Europe, especially Germany or European industry and its largest economy, in addition to the French, and then the rest of the European Union.

And because Europeans depend on Russian gas for their industries and heating their homes, the Russian bear has turned on the strategic perspective into a strong threat to the Europeans and lives at the mercy of its pipes, which he can close whenever he wants and turn their whole countries into a mere dead continent.

Before the outbreak of the Azerbaijani-Armenian war, Europe was on a date in the second half of this year 2020 to receive the first supply of natural gas for the first time from a new source other than the Russian one, the Caspian Sea, through the southern gas corridor built by Azerbaijan and passing through Turkey.

According to Russian press sources, the “Southern Gas Corridor” project, which has a length of 3,500 km, is one of the priorities of the European Union. It provides for the transfer of 10 billion cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas from the Caspian region through Georgia and Turkey to Europe.

The Europeans tried to search for an alternative to Russian gas and found it already in the huge Qatari-Iranian gas fields, but laying the pipelines through neighboring countries always clashed with the futility of the Qataris and the arrogance of the Turks, which prompted the countries of the corridor (Saudi Arabia, Syria) to refuse its passage.

And because the Turks believe that their strategic importance is diminishing in the region, and because they are looking for high funding sources for their expansion projects, and because they are looking for a role and perhaps controlling gas supplies that would achieve the influence they seek. Therefore, they are maneuvering from Libya in the west to Azerbaijan and Armenia in the east. That relationship was hampered by Erdogan’s bad behavior with his neighbors (Greece, the Cypriots, the Egyptians), and the stern position of the French.

The Turks hope to obtain Azerbaijani gas by extending a gas pipeline through Anatolia and then to Europe at low prices, as well as traffic fees and control of supplies, which will enhance the economy, the strategic location and the desired Erdogan influence.

The failure of the Turkish steps everywhere in the Middle East is clear. It is true that it is wrapped in false propaganda led by the huge media machine of the Qataris and the Brotherhood, but the facts on the ground say that Erdogan is nothing but the driver of a stolen vehicle that he drives at a speed that is racing against time to search for influence that is not qualified to obtain it. Command the life of his ambitions.
