RIYADH – Two persons were killed as a building collapsed on the western outskirts of the capital city. Thirteen persons sustained injuries as the building, affiliated to Al-Maarefa (Knowledge) University in Ad Diriyah, caved in, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) quoted the Civil Defense as reporting.
Lt. Col. Muhammad El-Hammadi, spokesman of Riyadh Province Civil Defense, told SPA that a search and salvage team of the Civil Defense rushed to the scene to evacuate the victims, help those around and look for those trapped under the debris.
He said a Saudi citizen and an expatriate were killed in the accident. Ten of those injured were discharged from hospitals after receiving first aid. Work is continuing to remove the rubble and make sure nobody was missing.
