Jeddah - Yasmine El Tohamy - HAIL: Hail Season is organizing four days of mountain bike racing on Aja Mountain starting on Wednesday, with the participation of 150 bikers from all over the world, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Saleh Al-Enezi, director of the media center for Hail Season, said the mountain bike racing will cover a distance of 300 km, including sand dunes, mountains and valleys.
There will be rest areas and well-equipped camps offering accommodation, food, drinks and other services, he added.
Medical services and physical therapy will also be provided, as well as a helicopter for emergencies.
Hail Season, one of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing series of regional festivals, was inaugurated by the region’s governor, Prince Abdul Aziz bin Saad Al-Saud in December.
Earlier, Prince Abdul Aziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, chairman of the board of directors of the General Sports Authority, said: “We look forward to cultural, sports, entertainment and tourism activities that exhibit to the world an inspiring artistic picture.”
“Hail represents the nobility of the past and the outlook to the future. Through its season, we look forward to create a modern face for the land of originality, heritage and history,” Prince Abdul Aziz said.
Designed to promote the fledgling entertainment sector, the Saudi seasons initiative attracted some of the biggest names in world entertainment to the Kingdom.
