RIYADH — Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Eng. Abdul Rahman Al-Fadhli and Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Al-Khorayef witnessed on Sunday the signing of an agreement for scientific and technical cooperation between the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture and the Saudi Geological Survey (SGS), aimed at conserving the Kingdom’s natural resources.

The pact was inked in the framework of joint cooperation between the two parties to serve the common interests and goals related to research in the fields of environment, water and agriculture, as well as the conservation and protection of natural resources so as to achieve the Kingdom’s integrated economic and social development.

The agreement was signed by Deputy Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Eng. Mansour Al-Mushaiti and Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Mining Affairs and Acting Chairman of SGS Eng. Khaled Al-Mudayfar.

Under the agreement, joint working teams will be formed to carry out follow-up tasks to carry out joint projects, studies and research in the fields of environment, water and agriculture.

These include detailed technical studies pertaining to all activities related to the protection of natural resources, as well as to find solutions to rein in any environmental or humanitarian disasters.

The agreement also envisages mutual exchange in consultations and experiences, as well as for undertaking training programs and specialized workshops in the field of water to raise the scientific standard of technicians on both sides, in addition to exchanging studies on restoration and rehabilitation of the desert environment, changes in the vegetation and its relationship to climate changes and rain for agriculture.
