Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, on Monday announced that a Centre for Coronavirus Control would be established in the emirate.

The new centre will include representatives from the Ministry of Health and Prevention and other relevant authorities in the emirate.

It will be prepare strategic plans and recommendations to battle pandemics, including Covid-19, and develop rapid intervention plans in co-ordination with competent bodies at the public and private sectors.

The UAE said on earlier on Monday that distance learning for pupils would continue until the end of the academic year.

It also confirmed 41 new Covid-19 cases taking the total to 611, plus two deaths which takes the number of fatalities to five.

Meanwhile, the number of cases in Iran passed 41,000 on Monday, while its death toll topped 2,700.

Spain confirmed another 812 deaths in 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths to 7,340, according to health ministry figures. It was the first decline in the number of deaths in a 24-hour period since Thursday.
