Hind Al Soulia - Riyadh - CAIRO — The Arab League on Wednesday affirmed its support for Egypt’s national initiative for smart green projects.
The backing for Cairo’s efforts at this level was declared by the director general of sustainable development Dr. Nada Al-Ajizi.
Dr. Al-Ajizi made this statement during a meeting held in coordination with the Ministry of planning and economic development for shedding light on the initiative. Representatives of Arab countries attended the session.
Dr. Al-Ajizi stated that the meeting aimed at promoting the initiative that had been acclaimed by the United Nations, indicating that it envisages greening and smart ventures in the country’s governorates.
Hisham Badr, the initiative coordinator, affirmed that it addresses issues related to impact of climatic change.
Indicating that Cairo aspires to lure investments at this level, he added that the initiative has been launched within framework of Egypt’s chairmanship of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the efforts designed to attain sustainable development in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030.
Affirming that the initiative involved grass-root associations, he revealed that the initiative authority received 6,300 proposed environmental projects from ordinary citizens this year. — Kuna
