Facebook has put the company’s new logo image after changing its name to “Meta” as an image for its various accounts across the Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube platforms.

And Facebook announced, on Thursday evening, that it will rebrand its name “Meta”, a name change that comes at a time when the company faces criticism from lawmakers and regulators over its market power, algorithmic decisions, and control of violations on its platforms.

Speaking at the company’s virtual and augmented reality conference, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the new name reflects our focus on building the metaverse. “Currently, our brand is so closely tied to a single product that it cannot represent everything we do today, let alone the future,” he added.

The tech giant said the change would bring its various applications and technologies under one new brand, and said it would not change its corporate structure.
The term metaverse, a term first coined in a novel three decades ago and now attracting widespread fanfare in Silicon Valley, refers to the idea of a shared virtual environment that can be accessed by people using different devices.
The company unveiled a new banner at its headquarters in Menlo Park, California, on Thursday, replacing its “Like” logo.
