The US Federal Communications Commission has approved an order to expel China Telecom Americas Corp from the US market within 60 days, arguing that it represents a “threat to US national security”.

“The company should stop providing domestic and international services, because China could use these services to engage in espionage and other malicious activities against the United States,” the commission said.

It is reported that China Telecom was pulled from the US stock exchange by the administration of former US President Donald , due to concerns that the Chinese state-owned company was working with the Chinese military.

The committee said in a previous statement about the company that its communications “show a lack of candor, trustworthiness and reliability.”

China has not yet announced any moves against the United States to expel its companies from the American market, but it has previously said that it will protect its companies from the American response.
