Geagea’s file before the Military Public Prosecution after it was “stamped”...

Diab's agents file a lawsuit against the state in the port case

Yesterday, the Lebanese army intelligence concluded the investigation related to summoning the head of the “Lebanese Forces” party, Samir Geagea, in the file of the Tayouneh events, and sent him to the Military Public Prosecution, after Geagea refused to appear before the intelligence branch to be heard as a witness, according to what was reported by Lebanese media.

The intelligence had attached the summons, last Monday, to Geagea’s house, and asked him to appear in front of the branch yesterday morning, but he refused, on the condition that Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah be summoned before him.

Informed sources said that the Intelligence Directorate contacted the government commissioner at the military court, Judge Fadi Akiki, to ask for clarification about the next step, after Geagea failed to appear before it.

The Lebanese Army Command denied the leaked news in the media about the investigations, explaining that “these investigations have been kept strictly confidential, in accordance with the rules, and under the supervision of the competent judiciary, and that any news related to them attributed to sources in the investigation is just speculation that is not based on facts.”

This comes in light of a step of solidarity with Geagea, as hundreds of his supporters participated in car demonstrations towards his residence in the town of Maarab in the Kesrouan region, and they set off from several areas in Kesrouan, Jbeil, Matn and some other areas, and cars stopped on the Bkerke – Maarab road in support of him. who was prepared to appear before the army intelligence.

Geagea tweeted on his Twitter account: “You came today from all regions to reject the politicization of the judiciary, and to pursue the assailants. Thank you from the heart to all of you, and a pledge to stay together in victory for freedom, truth and justice, and to safeguard Lebanon and the future of its future generations.”

His wife, MP Strida Geagea, thanked “all party leaders, ministers, parliamentarians, politicians, media professionals, activists, social actors and opinion leaders, who stood by the truth and the truth against arbitrariness, injustice and maliciousness,” as she said in a series of tweets, and also thanked “all comrades.” And the supporters and the Lebanese who expressed their solidarity with Al-Hakim by coming to the vicinity of the party’s general headquarters in Maarab, after they had deliberately ringed the church bells in solidarity in various regions. And she added: “What a right has died behind demands, so how about if all of you are the ones who demand, and I have full faith that in the end only the right thing is true.”

“Amal Movement” and “Hezbollah” are pushing for judicial investigations to identify those involved in the file of the bloody Tayouneh events. The “Development and Liberation” bloc headed by Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri said after its regular meeting yesterday that the victims “fell treacherously in Tayouneh during their participation in a peaceful march organized in order to correct the work of the judicial judiciary in the crime of the port explosion, and to protect it from discretion, populism and selectivity.”

The bloc called on the competent judiciary to “accelerate the completion of the investigation, and impose the most severe penalties on those who fired their treachery bullets at the martyrs and defenseless civilians.” At the same time, the bloc calls on all political forces and public opinion institutions not to yield to sectarian, sectarian and regional mobilization, in an open and uncalculated attempt to re-raise the psychological barricades between the people of the same region and the same country, or for populist ends, and investing in precious blood for cheap electoral purposes.

In parallel, the bloc “reiterated its adherence to the necessity of revealing the whole truth about the explosion of the port of Beirut, and adherence to a straight judicial path, away from politicization and denial, an independent judiciary that leads to justice, not to waste it by overstepping the legal principles and constitutional texts.”

In the file of investigations into the port explosion, the defense attorneys for former Prime Minister Hassan Diab, lawyers Rashid Derbas, Amal Haddad and Naji Al-Bustani, filed a lawsuit before the General Authority of the Court of Cassation headed by the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Suhail Abboud, in which they took the status of a prosecution against the Lebanese state, and requested Their quarrel over what they called “grave mistakes” committed by Judge Al-Bitar against their client.

The Deputy Ministers, Ali Hassan Khalil and Ghazi Zuaiter, also submitted a lawsuit before the General Authority of the Court of Cassation to determine the valid reference for the response of the judicial investigative judge in the port case. Defense sources were quoted as saying that “as soon as Diab’s defense attorneys submit an official statement showing that they have filed a lawsuit against the state, he stops questioning their client until the case is decided,” without the palm of the hand covering other procedures.
