Chinas Foreign Ministry responded to US President Joe Biden’s pledge to defend Taiwan, saying, “We will never compromise our vital interests and there is no room for compromise.”
Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said Beijing was urging Washington to move cautiously on Taiwan after Biden said the United States would defend the autonomous island from Beijing’s attacks.
He stressed that “China has no room for compromise on issues related to its vital interests,” warning that Washington “should act and speak cautiously on the Taiwan issue.”
