Aoun wants half of the ministers of the Lebanese government

France intervened with its weight to save the consultations to form the Lebanese government, after it was complicated by the request of President Michel Aoun, half the members of the government that Prime Minister-designate Najib Mikati intends to form from 24 ministers, while the “gasoline crisis” turned into a burning substance that caused, yesterday (Monday), three deaths and a number of deaths. of the wounded in northern Lebanon.

Political sources told Asharq Al-Awsat that Mikati was surprised, in the last session of the authoring negotiations, that Aoun had an intention to overturn what he had pledged in the previous session, by demanding half of the cabinet members, i.e. 12 ministers out of 24, which forced him to freeze the discussion. In distributing ministerial portfolios to the sects, after he presented him with a preliminary vision in this regard, and he was expected to answer it, in preparation for the transition to the stage of dropping the names of ministers on the portfolios.

The sources added that Paris was forced to intervene to restore the quorum to the authorship consultations, warning that the continuation of obstacles to its creation would force it before the end of this week to take an irreversible position targeting the political team affiliated with Aoun, led by the head of the Free Patriotic Movement, Representative Gibran Bassil. She said that Aoun, under pressure from Paris, was forced to resume communication channels with Mikati, and it was reported that he responded to her request to send Basil to meet him, because the decision is up to him, although Aoun is acting on his behalf to negotiate.

In addition, a citizen was killed and three others were injured in a dispute in the town of Bakhoun (Northern Lebanon), due to a dispute over filling fuel. In Tripoli (North), two people were killed as a result of a dispute that later spread to Bab al-Tabbaneh, where three were wounded by stray bullets. Security sources reported that the security forces identified the names of the shooters, and they became known by their names, and they are being pursued to arrest them.
