MANAMA — Bahrain’s Cabinet on Monday affirmed the country's firm support for the Palestinian cause and the rights of the Palestinian people to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem (Al-Quds Al-Sharif) as its capital in accordance with international legitimacy decisions, the two-state solution and the Arab Peace Initiative, the Bahrain News Agency reported.
In a virtual meeting chaired by Bahrain’s Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Mohammed Bin Mubarak, the Cabinet took stock of the outcomes of the virtual emergency meeting of the executive committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to discuss the situation in Gaza.
The emergency meeting addressed initiatives to stop the dangerous escalation of conflict in Gaza and the rest of the Palestinian territories, and to reach a peaceful solution that guarantees the legitimate rights of the Palestinians.
Bahrain’s Cabinet welcomed the ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinians in Gaza, considering it a step that supports efforts to promote comprehensive peace in the Middle East.
