The Asahi Shimbun newspaper reported this Friday that Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga said that there will be six prefectures where the emergency measure will end, but the four in the Tokyo metropolitan area will have to wait until the deadline of March 7.
The measure will end in the three prefectures of the Kansai region: Osaka, Kyoto and Hyogo, the two prefectures of Aichi and Gifu, in central Japan; and Fukuoka, on the main southern island of Kyushu.
Suga explained that while the situation in medical institutions remained difficult, it had improved compared to the most difficult periods of the pandemic.
He added that the number of new Covid-19 cases with severe symptoms and those hospitalized have decreased since the state of emergency was declared last January.
However, infection prevention measures will continue even after the state of emergency is lifted, the prime minister said.
I hope you are in health and well.
