The hopeful and amateur sport committee (CSEA) has decided to cancel with immediate effect all the hopeful championships.
The U17 and U20 top and A categories had already been unable to train for a few weeks. After the extension of the measures to fight the pandemic by the Confederation, until February 28, it will no longer be possible for them to finish the championships in a sporting and fair manner knowing that a three-week preparation period would have been necessary.
Selection tournaments maintained
U15 juniors and younger can continue to train normally. However, given the dates blocked in March for the selection tournaments, they would only have two or three weeks left to complete the championships. Here again, sports fairness can no longer be guaranteed.
The selection tournaments for the U13, U14 and U15 are however maintained as planned.
Finally, if the health situation allows it, the league will offer its support for the organization of friendly matches, tournaments or other forms of play at all levels of hope from March. “It is essential that players under 16 continue to train on the ice, both for their physical and mental health,” said the league in a statement.
