“I don’t have the best words to say this because I’m angry (…) Death and physical threats, intimidation … it’s too much. All of this has to stop.” With these words, Gabriel Sterling, an electoral official for the state of Georgia in the United States, urged the outgoing president, Donald Trump, to stop inspiring violent acts.
The strong statement was also directed at the state’s two Republican senators, David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler, at a press conference.
He complained to them that they had kept silent in the face of the intimidation that those in charge of counting the votes have received.

“Mr. President, it seems that you have lost in the state of Georgia. We are investigating, there is always a possibility, I understand, you have the right to go to court, but what you have capacity -and You need to step up and say it – it’s to stop inspiring people to commit potential acts of violence“, he assured.
The notably upset senior official mentioned at the news conference that one of the youngest poll workers in Gwinnett County had received death threats.
He said he is in his “twenties” and that he is a technician for Dominion Voting Systems, a manufacturer of ballot counting machines that has become the target of all manner of conspiracy theories about hypothetical election fraud, publicly supported by Trump and his personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani.

Sterling added that he, Brad Raffensperger, the Georgia secretary of state and his wife have also received threats. “Sexual threats reach her through her cell phone,” he denounced.
“These are elections, this is the backbone of democracy and all those who have not said a damn word are complicit in this. It is too much, it is not right,” he concluded.
Finally, he said that he could not explain the level of anger he had in front of what was happening and that all Americans, both Republicans and Democrats, should have the same sentiment because the intimidations could end in injuries, shots and deaths.
Georgia certified Biden’s victory in the elections on November 20 and is currently conducting a second recount at the request of Trump’s lawyers, although state officials have already warned that the count is not expected to alter the result. . EFE
