Inter Milan coach Antonio Conte believes that Moroccan team defender Achraf Hakimi needs to work on himself more in order to develop his level.

Conte said in statements, most notably his club’s website: “I don’t like talking about individuals. Go back and see what I said when Ashraf arrived here. He has great potential, but he needs to work on the defensive side more.”

“Let us not forget that there are more pressures and demands in the Italian league compared to the German or English league,” he added.

“The pressure here is completely different from Germany,” he stressed.

He continued, “Before the beginning of the season, with the presence of new players, we had to work a lot and play many friendly matches so that the new ones could enter the group atmosphere, but this did not happen due to time constraints.”

He added, “We tried to achieve this in official matches and at the same time to produce positive results, but we did not always succeed in this.”

Inter will play Borussia Moenchengladbach in the fifth round of the UEFA Champions League group stage on Tuesday.

He explained, “We started our career in the Champions League and we are in control of our fate, and now that is not the case, and the only way to maintain hopes is to win Tuesday’s match.”

“We know that it will not be easy,” he concluded. “Monchengladbach has shown its strength.”

The German team is at the top of the group with 8 points, one point behind runner-up Real Madrid.

While Inter trails the group with two points, compared to 4 points for Shakhtar, who is third.
