In Antwerp, the local police stopped a party on Thursday evening at the Brialmontlei in the Jewish quarter, where more than a hundred people were probably present. The number of people caught on the spot was limited because many revelers were able to quickly flee the room in question before the police entered with a grinding wheel.
It was the third time this week that the Antwerp police found a party within the Jewish community. The first two times, 42 and 57 people were caught respectively, now the number would probably have been a lot higher if all those present had been identified.
“The tables were set for more than a hundred people and the party was clearly in full swing,” said police spokesman Wouter Bruyns. “When we arrived on site, however, most of them fled through all possible ways to the street, adjacent houses or a school, for example by climbing over walls.”
The police even had to cut open a door to gain access to the room where the party took place. Searching for and identifying those present will probably take the whole evening. For the time being, there would be about twenty people caught. In principle, all adults will receive an immediate summons, following the guidelines of the Antwerp public prosecutor’s office on lockdown parties.
