The French have still not regained their pre-crisis appetite for life insurance. For the eighth consecutive month in October, insurers paid savers more money than what was placed by policyholders on life insurance contracts. Net inflows therefore came out at -154 million euros, according to data published Thursday morning by the French Federation of Insurance (FFA).

Since the start of the year, net inflows have therefore remained very clearly negative at -7.3 billion euros. This plunge into the red of the market for one of the flagship savings products of the French contrasts with last year when, over the same period, net inflows were positive, to the tune of 22.3 billion euros.
