President-elect Joe Biden has chosen a young Muslim of Arab descent named Rima Dudin as part of his new administration’s staff, to occupy the position of deputy director of the Office of Legislative Affairs in the White House.
This comes in line with Biden’s choices, which he pledged to be based largely on the diversity and pluralism of the administration that will run the United States over the next four years, if he is officially installed on January 20.
Dudin’s origins go back to a village in Hebron, in the south of the occupied West Bank, while some of her family members live in Jordan and carry his nationality, according to the Jordanian site, “Kheberni”.
Wodden is a graduate of California universities in Berkeley and Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a fellow at the Truman Center for National Security and the Council of New Leaders, a former member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and a member of the Jenkins Hill Society for Supporting Women in Politics.
She currently serves as the Director of the Bureau of Democratic Illinois Senator Dick Durbin, who is also an assistant to the Democratic Minority Leader on the House.
Prior to this position, she worked as an advisor to Durbin, director of research, and assistant in the Judicial Subcommittee on Human Rights and Law in the Council, according to the American network, “CNN”.
A statement from the Biden campaign described it as “intelligent, trustworthy, and respected by members and employees of both parties (Democratic and Republican)”.
Dodin had previously participated as a volunteer for “protecting voters” in a number of campaigns, including that of former US President Barack Obama, according to the American “Al-Hurra” channel.
She has also co-authored a book on House and Senate House procedures through the Brookings Institution.
Dodin will work with Schwanza Gove and Louisa Terrell, who were both announced to join the White House team recently, to draft Biden’s campaign promises into legal drafts and submit them to the House and Senate.
The drafting of a new economic support package is expected to be the biggest challenge facing the team, according to the US “MSNBC” network.
