Fire in Romema: A fire broke out in an apartment complex...

A fire broke out last night (Tuesday) in a building complex on Sorotskin Street in the Romema neighborhood of Jerusalem. Twelve fire and rescue crews rescued dozens of trapped people trapped in their apartments as a result of the strong fire and heavy smoke emitted from the fire, which broke out on the lower floors of the complex and from there spread to several vehicles, warehouses and apartments.

Simultaneously with extinguishing the significant fire and rescuing the trapped firefighters worked to evacuate the heavy smoke from the buildings and carried out a search for more trapped people. A senior MDA paramedic, Dubi Zinewirt, said: “This is a complex of buildings where many families with children live, we arrived at the scene with very large forces. When we arrived, we saw thick smoke coming out of the buildings and an active fire in the parking lot of the building, people were standing in the windows on the balconies and on the roof and signaling to us, the fire brigade started putting out the fire and rescuing the trapped occupants. A man about 30 years old jumped from the first floor and was slightly injured, about 30 of the rescued tenants came to us. ”

The commander of the Jerusalem District Fire Brigade, Tafsir Nissim Twito, is on the scene and oversees the firefighting and rescue operations in the incident. At this stage, the complex firefighting operations are continuing in parallel with the searches for potential trapped people.

The commander of the forces at the event, Lt.
