Ministry of Agriculture bans marketing of 9 olive oil brands on...

The ministry’s action took place after the Civil Police of Espírito Santo dismantled, on Wednesday (11), a criminal organization specialized in the falsification of oils.

In the operation, more than three thousand bottles were seized. According to the police, what was sold as extra virgin olive oil would actually be soy oil.

In a note, the ministry states that “the investigated created the brands, supposedly imported, and put them for sale in the national market”. O G1 did not find the contact of the brands.

Only Donana Alimentos said, by means of a note, that it believes that the investigated used, once again, the name and labels of the company “to continue harming other customers”. The company had already gone through the same situation in the years 2017 and 2018. See the company’s full note:

“In 2017/2018 we were inspected by the Ministry of Agriculture and were instructed to remove the products from the supermarket shelves. At the time we found out that we were harmed by the company mentioned in this current matter, where those responsible are being indicted for counterfeiting and adulteration of the product in the state. At that time the owner of Donana Alimentos made a BO in our city Dourados – MS against those involved, citing the damage caused by them and asking for an investigation. name and labels to continue harming other customers. Our company has never sold any product in our portfolio to the state of Espírito Santo. ”

The operation initiated by the Civil Police of ES was carried out through the Consumer Protection Police (Decon).

In total, five search and seizure warrants, and one search warrant arrest of a Cuban, suspected of leading the scheme of oil counterfeiting.

The warrants were issued in three homes and two companies, located in the municipalities of Vila Velha and Cariacica.

The products were sold in Grande Vitória and in the interior of Espírito Santo. The investigated companies also sold the products to the states of Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais and the Northeast region.
