For € 249, passengers departing from Dublin Airport can purchase the package that includes an overnight stay at the hotel in conjunction with a PCR Covid-19 test, which must be completed before their flight.

Healthcare professionals take the test and the results are returned within 24 hours – or 36 hours outside of business hours and on weekends.

A second package, “Test & Rest”, is aimed at passengers coming to Ireland.

The price for two guests who share a room and both take a Covid-19 test is € 418, according to Independent.ie.

24 HOUR RESULTS

The hotel has partnered with Vida Care, an Irish healthcare provider, to run the virus tests.

The Carlton Hotel’s website states: “Vida Care offers a PCR swab test that will detect the active presence of the virus, meaning you are currently suffering from Covid-19.

“These are the tests currently used by HSE and approved by the Department of Health (DOH). They fully comply with government guidelines. ”

The add: “Vida Care are highly qualified, industry-recognized medical professionals who provide the security of Covid-19 tests with results from 24 hours.”

14-DAY QUARANTINE RELAXED

The hotel package is delivered as the government approves a range of travel measures under the color-coded EU traffic light system for safe travel within the EU based on virus incidence rates.

As of midnight on November 29, people planning to travel here from countries with a red rating could avoid the 14-day quarantine by taking a Covid-19 PCR test five days after their arrival.

If they report a negative result, they no longer need to restrict their movements.

There are no restrictions on people traveling from countries with green ratings, while people from countries with orange ratings can avoid quarantine if they can get a negative Covid-19 PCR test done no later than three days before they arrive here has been.
