And while officials raised all hopes and said they would release results in America tonight, Nevada state officials reverted to their original plan to update the results on Thursday at 12 p.m. (Friday, 4 a.m. ADST).

Before that, Joe Biden had found a sensible way to get through the 270-vote threshold tonight in the US.

Fox News and the AP called Arizona for Mr. Biden, so it would only take Nevada to get 270 electoral college votes and become the next president.

But Americans aren’t going to get this bedtime answer as they hoped – and they’re not happy about it.

Mr Biden currently leads Donald with 49.3 percent of the vote just below 48.7 percent of Mt Trump, with an estimated 85 percent of the vote counting.

Officials in Washoe County, home of Reno, said they were hoping to tabulate all 9,000 pending postal ballot papers for Thursday morning reporting.

More than 5000 additional ballots – preliminary ballots and same-day registrations – must also be tabulated in Washoe.

Voting officials must also count all postal ballot papers that are postmarked by November 3rd and arrive by November 10th.

Deanna Spikula, the county voter registrar, stressed the need for patience.

“I know everyone is eager to get the final results in the state tomorrow, but I warn everyone to wait,” she said.

In the more populous Clark County, home of Las Vegas, election officials didn’t say how many additional ballots they counted today.

In Arizona, Maricopa County, the state’s most populous state, has more than 400,000 letter and casting votes.

Fox News and the Associated Press have already called Arizona for Biden.

District officials said the vote will be updated at 9:00 p.m. east (1:00 p.m. ADST Thursday).

Officials in Pima County, home of Tucson, said they would post updates sometime on Wednesday.

There are still an estimated 26,000 to 34,000 early ballots and about 18,000 preliminary ballots left in Pima.
