Cases of Covid-19 confirmed in Galway nursing home

A number of residents and employees of a care home in South Galway have tested positive for Covid-19.

The Health Service Executive has confirmed the outbreak.

A statement said it was working with the facility to assist management in caring for residents.

It continued, “Public Health HSE West has a daily conference call with the facility and Community Healthcare West.”

“The HSE continues to provide a range of support to all long-term residential facilities across the country, including private nursing homes.

“This support is primarily administered by the Covid Response Teams in the region and includes management support, provision of free PPE and other necessary resources, public health and other clinical inputs, accommodation arrangements for certain employees, assistance with recruiting and in some cases the reassignment of HSE employees to support nursing homes ”
