Bodies of two children and one adult discovered on property in...

Gardai has tracked down a man in his mid-30s with whom officials want to discuss the death of a 37-year-old mother and her two children.

The woman’s body was discovered in an upstairs bedroom when Gardaí of the Armed Response Unit entered her home on Llywellen Court in Ballinteer just before noon.

Their children’s bodies – a girl aged 11 and a boy aged six – were found in another bedroom.

A man known to the tragic trio was located by gardaí, but was not arrested.

“This person is a person of great interest in the case, but Gardaí is still open on this investigation. There may be other options, but that doesn’t seem very likely at this point, ”a senior source said.

“Gardaí has looked for him and found him, but he has not yet been arrested,” the source said.

Officials called the Ballinteer house shortly after 11:30 a.m. when neighbors contacted gardaí to say they were concerned about the family.

It is believed that when Gardaí arrived at the scene, the house was overflowing with water after turning on a faucet in an upstairs bathroom.

The family is of Indian background and only moved to the area earlier this year.

In the meantime, a candlelit vigil with around 100 residents gathered on a green near the family home this evening.

Mary Byrne, President of the Residents’ Association, said, “It was important to have the vigil today because there are so many children here that it is very sad.

“Because of desire, the children didn’t come out to mingle like they normally would.

“Everyone is heartbroken. This brought our community close together.

“They seemed to be very private people. It’s just very sad. ”

Dundrum Independent City Councilor Sean McLoughlin said: “Our community is a unit. Everyone is devastated.

“We are in unprecedented times and had to come out to stand together.

“It’s just surreal and we’re all so sad.”
