8:07 am – The polls have already opened.

8h06 – Outside there is already a long line of partners. 8:04 am – Inside the pavilion, the last details are finalized. There are 20 polling stations and the club guarantees compliance with all DGS security rules regarding the pandemic.

7:50 am – The polls open around 8 am and close at 10 pm. Members can vote in Pavilion No. 2 da Luz (entry is through door number 9) and 24 club houses across the country.

– Benfica’s partners decide today whether they intend to elect the 35th president of the club’s history or whether to keep betting on Luís Filipe Vieira, who assumes to leave for his last term. The (still) most responsible person has been in the leadership for 17 years and could thus reach 21 ahead of the eagle’s destinies.

– Vieira, 71, tops list A and will have to beat two opponents: João Noronha Lopes, for list B; and Rui Gomes da Silva (list D). The 54-year-old manager and the former vice president of the Eagles (62 years old) make it clear, however, that today’s election may be challenged if the votes in the ballot box are not even counted.

– Gomes da Silva insists on the absence of a closed electoral register, coinciding with Noronha’s demand for a regulation, which is “nonexistent”. In a joint meeting last Monday, the Bureau of the General Assembly (MAG) also did not respond on how the confidentiality of the vote will be guaranteed. Nor how the reliability of electronic voting is guaranteed. In addition, the polls will not be opened and counter-votes will only be confirmed if the difference is minimal.
