Havana, – The mastery of a Cuban team of chefs in the art of decorating fruits and vegetables stands out today in the community of culinary sculptors, after obtaining the honor prize in the International Mukimono Art Contest.

Organized virtually by the Mexican Association of Culinary Sculptors and the Association of Culinary Artisans and International Carving Artists, the tournament welcomed competitors from 28 countries and a professional jury of experience in competitions of this type in the world.

The presentation of the island, deserving of the distinction for the greatest dedication, effort and teamwork, consisted of the reproduction of a life-size work of the plastic artist Zaida del Río, made in chocolate, sugar paste, fondant , marzipan, among other products, titled Guajira Guantanamera.

According to the director of the School of Artistic Cooking, Adolfo Enrique Espinosa, the piece reflects one of the great constants of that painter, draftsman and engraver: the treatment of women as being transmutable and, in particular, the possibility of becoming a bird. , fine, sensual, peaceful and, at the same time, powerful.

Likewise, he highlighted the talent of the team of chefs – most of the Gran Caribe hotel group – capable of reproducing relief paintings, exhibiting the works on easels as if they were canvases and sitting down to enjoy the reactions of the public.

“We always show Cubanness in our work,” insisted – exclusively to Prensa Latina – the teacher who exhibits on social networks photos of parades of models dressed in details of mukimono art, including wedding couple suits.

With the support of the Master and Master Foreign Branch, the Culinary Federation of Cuba and the Gran Caribe hotel group, the whole of the Caribbean nation also presented a piece of 3D gelatin.

Among the participants from Argentina, Russia, Spain, Thailand, Peru, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, United States, Canada, among several, they obtained the rest of the awards of the contest Benjamin Figueroa, from Mexico; Laura Hernández, from Bolivia and Adriano Cossu, from Italy, in that order. The School of Artistic Cooking, the first of its kind on the island and founded in 2017, seeks to show that cooking is a complete art, for which its works have been exhibited at the National Museum of Fine Arts, the Convention Palace, the Colonial Art Museum, among other spaces.
