Reuters quoted Sudanese sources as saying that at least one demonstrator was killed and others were injured in clashes with police.
It reported that the Sudanese security forces fired tear gas to disperse hundreds of demonstrators in the capital, Khartoum, after crowds gathered to pressure the government to improve conditions.
The security forces also closed all bridges connecting Khartoum, Bahri and Omdurman across the Blue and White Nile to prevent protesters from reaching the city center.
An eyewitness added that some remnants of Al-Bashir’s supporters were expected to join the protests on Wednesday to express their opposition to the government, but the crowds gathered massively to demand justice for those killed in the violence that took place in last year’s protests.
The demonstrations came two days after US President Donald Trump announced that the United States would remove Sudan from its list of states sponsoring terrorism.
