Youtuber David MacMillan, 30, dies after pain in his shoulder

Scottish youtuber David MacMillan, 30, who owns the Pirate Dog channel, died on the last 8 days after being diagnosed with a rare germ cell cancer. David started to feel a pain in his shoulder in January, but he did not pay due attention, as he thought it was the result of an arm wrestling match he had with his father.

The diagnosis, however, was a germ cell tumor. In February, he tried to make an appointment for a doctor’s appointment, but because of the pandemic, the discovery of the disease and, consequently, its treatment, were postponed.

With the help of a nurse, David received shoulder medication and physiotherapy in mid-March. “Then, at Easter, he went out shopping and when he came back he was out of breath,” Diane Whinn, the youtuber’s mother, told the Daily Mail.

She believed that David might have pneumonia, but soon after he was diagnosed with germ cell cancer that, in his case, affected the mediastinum (one of the three cavities in the chest cavity).

David underwent chemotherapy, but the case was already very aggressive and there was no more chance to save him. The only alternative was to put him on a respirator in his last moments.
