Sony unveiled the PlayStation 5 user interface in a video on its official YouTube channel. It’s vastly different from the PlayStation UI on the previous consoles, and the video shows the “Control Center,” which can be accessed at any time by pressing the PS button on the controller, as well as other areas such as the home screen and the new map feature. There are a number of maps in the Control Center that display news, breaking screenshots, game progress, and more.

The video, posted on Sony’s official PlayStation channel on YouTube, is a sample representation of the new user interface that players will experience when the PlayStation 5 launches on November 12th for some regions and on November 19th for the rest of the world. The 11-minute clip begins with the console returning from sleep and going straight to where the user left off. It shows the ‘Control Center’ with the map layout and other options below. These options give instant access to things like going back to the home screen, checking notifications, friends who might be online, settings, and more.

When they get to the cards, they show messages from developers, screenshots of games, and then an activities section that offers deeper integration with games. This section is intended to “remove obstacles to gameplay”. It shows activities from the game with information on levels, achievements and much more. In addition, in some PS5 games, PlayStation Plus can use the official game help, which gives the player a hint on how to solve a problem or mission.

The new UI also lets players check what their friends are playing and even view their gameplay. It’s also easier to join a party and start a multiplayer game. Screenshots and videos can be recorded on the PlayStation 5 in a resolution of up to 4K.

The PlayStation 5 user interface walkthrough brings up the home screen, which gives you easy, super fast access to what you need. Games and media apps have their own tabs. Each game has a hub with more information about that particular game. Backward compatible PlayStation 4 games can also use this feature. The PlayStation Store has been integrated into the system and is no longer an app. More information on the user interface will be released in the coming weeks.

The PlayStation 5 will be released in India on November 19th. The prices for the console in India are yet to be announced.
