The week of the diplomatic “bombing” of Turkey … including a...

During the past few days, the Turkish regime was exposed to a series of diplomatic “missiles” from several major countries, against the backdrop of Ankara’s continuing aggressive policy in several countries, as well as its ambitions for the eastern Mediterranean.

However, the harsher “shell” came in the heart of the capital, Ankara, and was launched by Swedish Foreign Minister Anne Linde.

The Swedish minister launched a sharp attack on Turkey, during a joint press conference with her Turkish counterpart, Mevlut Cavusoglu, in a rare diplomatic quarrel that showed European anger at Ankara’s hostile policies.

The Swedish minister demanded the withdrawal of the occupying Turkish forces from Syrian lands, accusing Ankara of responsibility for the division of Syria and the persecution of the Kurds.

It also expressed its rejection of the escalation of human rights violations and systematic arrests of the Kurds inside Turkey.

The Swedish foreign minister accused the ruling “Justice and Development” party of igniting conflicts in Syria, Libya, and the Nagorno Karabakh region, and the repeated violation of the sovereignty of the Mediterranean countries.

The Kremlin warns

On Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a new “shell” in the face of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, informing him of his “deep concern” about the participation of “mercenaries” from the Middle East, backed by Turkey, in the ongoing hostilities in the Nagorno Karabakh region.

And he stressed, during a phone call with Erdogan, the need to make efforts to end the bloodshed in the disputed territory between the countries of Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Putin expressed hope that Turkey, as a member of the “Minsk” group of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, would constructively contribute to calming the conflict in the Nagorno Karabakh region.

Armenia accuses Turkey of transferring about 4000 militants from northern Syria to Azerbaijan to participate in the ongoing fighting.

The White House is watching

With the tightening of the screws on Erdogan’s hostile policies, the United States confirmed that it is watching with great concern the Turkish moves in the Armenian and Azerbaijan crisis.

In a statement to the Foreign Ministry, Washington also urged Azerbaijan and the separatist forces in Nagorny Karabakh, backed by Armenia, to “immediately cease hostilities” in this region, which is witnessing the most violent confrontations since 2016.

On Tuesday, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan confirmed that Turkey is responsible for undermining the ceasefire agreement in the region by inciting Azerbaijan to continue fighting.

He warned that Ankara’s position on the conflict over Karabakh aims to expand its influence in the South Caucasus region.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights confirmed that the death toll among Erdogan’s mercenaries had risen to 72 in the Nagorno Karabakh confrontations.

In another file, America demanded Turkey to stop its “deliberate provocations” in the eastern Mediterranean, after Ankara announced that it would send a ship to explore gas again, which could aggravate the crisis with Greece.

Europe punishes

On Tuesday, the European Union again warned Turkey to impose sanctions if it does not stop its interventions and behavior in the region.

The spokesman for the European Union, Peter Stano, confirmed that the European Union is monitoring the behavior of Ankara, and if it does not comply and stop its escalation, sanctions will be one of the options presented.

“We will not allow Turkey to use the refugee card to blackmail us,” said Peter.

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas also warned Turkey against continuing provocations against Greece and Cyprus in the eastern Mediterranean.

Maas stressed that Ankara must end “the game of switching between relaxation and provocation.”

Turkey had sent an exploration ship to disputed waters, accompanied by warships, which raised concerns about Cyprus and Greece, which conducted military exercises.

Warnings and condemnations are mounting daily against the hostile Turkish moves in many conflict areas, whether in the Middle East or outside it.
