Nathan (Russell Tovey) had just witnessed the birth of his child with Mrs. Holly (Amrita Acharia), his insane enemy Bob (Bertie Carvel) was probably in a permanent coma and he hadn’t killed “the sister” Elise, whom he believed was he had her 10 years earlier after a New Years Eve party. He was clear!
Except that in the final scene, Elise’s ghost was in the back seat as he drove away from the hospital. Surely he would get a comeuppance? Of course not!
The sister ended with an opaque, open end. The audience was not impressed.
The responses on social media ranged from “disappointing” to descriptions we can’t print.
The final left so many questions unanswered.
One viewer wrote: “I don’t understand what happened to the rest of her body. How did they know the skull was hers? why oh why was she in the back of the car? worst ending ever #thesisteritv #The sister”.
The last scene seemed to strongly justify the possibility of a sequel.
However there were Fans among the online critics. One viewer wrote: “This has to be one of the weirdest dramas I’ve seen in a long time! #The sister”.
Many in the audience had stopped taking the drama seriously even though they were still watching.
