felt like I had lost my mind when someone reminded me that Mandalorian Season 2 was back this week, specifically Friday October 30th.
wait what the hell https://t.co/GBJgS0aDpv— Paul Tassi (@PaulTassi) October 26, 2020
Given last year’s pandemic, I’ve gotten to a place where I assume any show I want to watch or film has been delayed indefinitely. Meanwhile is In 98% of the films, some shows are starting to recede and some others, like The Mandalorian, got lucky.
Mandalorian Season 2 managed to finish filming before all of the COVID lockdown procedures began, and after many months of post-production, it is actually best known for its promised early fall release. Other big shows like The Witcher weren’t so lucky and had to stop production in the middle of production, delaying them until next year.
With Disney Plus, The Mandalorian will go live either very late tonight or tomorrow morning depending on what time you go to bed. You can watch it then or later in the afternoon / evening when you are done with work / school. Although I work from home, I foresee a lot more early observers than normal.
As with Season 1, Disney is continuing its plan of releasing the episodes weekly instead of a big Netflix-style binge dump that seemed to work very well for word of mouth over Season 1. The Mandalorian remains one of the few standout Disney fans Plus had for adult viewers in his first year of life, though more Star Wars series and Marvel series are on the way, though almost all of them were delayed due to the pandemic.
We know very little about Season 2 of The Mandalorian as early trailers reveal practically nothing. We have some … interesting people joining the cast this season as WWE’s Sasha Banks plays a role. We also know that Rosario Dawson was cast in what 99% of everyone thinks is Ahsoka from the Clone Wars, and it seems that Dave Filoni’s earlier series The Mandalorian, which he writes and directs frequently, will be heavily influenced when Moff Gideon’s Darksaber at the end of last season didn’t make that clear.
The Mandalorian’s “main mission” this season is to solve a decade-old puzzle about the “Yoda Race” such a riddle, it doesn’t even have a name. We don’t know what planet they’re from either, and the show just describes them as a “race of wizards” in terms of their violence. Mando is trying to get Baby Yoda there to reunite him with his kind, so we’ll see how that goes. I’m sure nothing disruptive will happen on the way.
I’ll get up light and early tomorrow to cover the premiere, and I hope we may get longer episodes this season. I don’t trust it, although rumor has it that this premiere could be longer than normal. See you. Be hyped.
