Dixon – with Down syndrome – was born on September 6, 1984 in Dallas, Texas, and was named after Ambassador for the Global Down Syndrome Foundation In 2011, she competed in the Special Olympics as a child, competed for more than nine years, winning medals in shot put, athletics, bowling, and soccer.
In her biography on the foundation’s website, Dixon thanks her brother for giving her the opportunity to follow her dreams.
