‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Update 1.13 requires 1 function to get the players...
The player base for Marvel’s Avenger disappears. While Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics’ new superhero title “Games-as-a-Service” sold pretty well and were at the top https://twitter.com/MatPiscatella/status/1317088128843173888The players’ interest in the game has waned. A quick look at Steam charts reveals that the game barely has a little more than 1,000 concurrent players, a fraction of the high of 28,145 players Marvel’s Avenger reached at startup.

Lots of people already have Marvel’s Avengerbut they don’t seem to be coming back which is the key to any games-as-a-service game. To fix this problem, Marvel’s Avenger needs significantly more diversity to its gameplay than was present since launch.

While it looks like developers are taking steps to address this issue, a DLC delay means the game’s salvation grace is not yet in place. So the inevitable update to version 1.13 is where developers need to plant the seeds for major changes.

When we say variety, we mean it in almost all facets of the game: levels, mission structure, loot, skins and enemy types repeat themselves all too often.

At the first start Marvel’s Avengerthe reassemble campaign is the largest draw. It’s a fairly linear single player story with highly produced cutscenes. It is similar to the previous Crystal Dynamics games Grave robbers.

Although the campaign keeps things a little fresh with interesting new areas, the repeatability of everything starts to drop even by the end of the roughly 10-hour campaign.

By the time the credits roll in, you’ve seen every enemy and most level types that do Marvel’s Avenger have to offer. Instead of drawing from the exciting linear single player missions, the multiplayer mission structure in the multiplayer mode “Avengers Initiative” draws from the more boring open Drop Zones and War Zones.

Despite the open level design, the goals of the war zone mostly boil down to either striking certain enemies and objects, or standing in a certain area before entering an AIM facility and doing the same. All war zones do is single out one of the targets. Yes, there is a small amount of unique dialogue before and after each mission, but it’s not really worth it when you keep fighting on the same maps with little meaningful variations.

While every Games-as-a-Service title repeats itself somewhat, games like Fate 2 are able to spice things up with mission, level and workload variety. Marvel’s Avenger While it has upgraded skills and equipment, aside from some interesting abilities or additional effects, these seem like little more than a negligible number boost. Even many of the unlockable costumes don’t impress despite the potential of this feature.

It doesn’t help that you’re just fighting against hordes of AIM robots, all of whom are mingling with each other and whose patterns you master by the end of the campaign. While Marvel’s Avenger There are tons of endgame missions after the campaign ends. After the first hour of play, they don’t have the feeling that they have much new to offer. There are only two super villain bosses which is amazing how big the Avengers villain gallery is.

The developers seem to be aware of this and have updated the game to add a new mission type called Tachyon Rifts and a new base called Substation Zero. Unfortunately, this update also brought some bad news for those looking for more variety Marvel’s Avenger. Kate Bishop and her “Taking AIM” post-launch campaign have been indefinitely postponed from their late October release to allow Square Enix to keep improving the game.

While it’s a good thing Square Enix takes the time to fix many of the bugs it contains Marvel’s Avenger So that the developers can build on a solid base, this decision seems to push back even the biggest additions after the launch. So we have to wait a little longer Marvel’s Avenger can feel fresh again.

Inverse located several areas where Marvel’s Avenger could be improved around the start of the game. Months later, many of the problems listed still apply, and it has become even clearer that there is a lack of variety Marvel’s Avenger, biggest problem. Delaying the DLC after its launch has been a risky game for Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics, and we have yet to see if it pays off or if it pays off Marvel’s Avenger will succumb to this great problem.

Marvel’s Avenger is available now for PC, PS4, Xbox One and Google Stadia.
