A wildfire bushfire caused evacuations on Sydney’s northern beaches on Saturday – forcing production teams to flee Big Brother’s house.
The flame raised smoke over Sydney Harbor and left a haze over the city.
According to NSW Fire and Rescue, about 200 people were evacuated from locations near the fire in the national park, including the historic quarantine station.
This included Big Brother’s 50-strong production team – including host Sonia Kruger – who are working on the 2021 edition of the reality show.
“Due to the effects of a mandatory fire reduction in North Head, the Big Brother crew was safely evacuated on site,” said a spokesman for production company Endemol Shine Australia.
“Filming has yet to start and production will resume when it is safe.”
Text messages sent to staff should begin on Saturday when attendees should arrive on site.
On Sunday, the fire brigade said the fire was “pretty much contained” after a night of backfire and rain.
It had blown about 10 hectares of the national park when it was brought under control.
