The Media Center of the Council of Ministers confirmed that the news circulated about imposing fees on phone call recipients at a value of 10 piasters per minute, starting from next October, is incorrect.
The Media Center of the Council of Ministers contacted the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, which denied the news, stressing that there is no truth in charging the recipients of the phone call at a value of 10 piasters per minute, starting from next October, and that no decisions have been issued in this regard.
The ministry stressed that the fees for the cost of any phone calls are borne only by the caller, without charging the recipient of the call with any fees at all, noting that the imposition of any new fees on communications services does not come unilaterally by the telecommunications companies, but rather requires notification and approval of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority. As the government entity affiliated with the Ministry, it is responsible for making a decision to impose any new fees related to the telecommunications sector.
The ministry called on citizens not to be drawn into such malicious and baseless rumors, which aim to sow confusion with information obtained from its official sources.
