The UAE-based Yalla Group, which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange, announced the appointment of Saeed Al Hamli, the former CEO of Etisalat Egypt, as an independent director of the board of directors as of the 7th of this month. Al Hamli has also been appointed as a member of the group’s audit committee.
Al Hamli’s appointment to this position comes due to his distinguished leadership skills and extensive experience in the field of communications, which he gained through his work in many different environments that imposed on him challenges that he deservedly overcome. He held several senior management positions in Etisalat Group, an Emirati multinational company that provides telecommunications services, and perhaps the most prominent positions he held was the position of CEO of Etisalat Egypt and Afghanistan.
Al Hameli was also one of the early founders of the Thuraya Satellite Communications Company in 1997, the first provider of mobile communications services via satellite (MSS), and held several other positions in the company, including Chief Commercial Officer.
He is also the founder and CEO of Seattle Project Management Services, a company that specializes in managing projects by embracing the latest new technologies and investing in and partnering with leading technology companies. Al Hamli received an Executive MBA from the American University of Sharjah in 2003 and a BSc in Electrical Engineering from Florida Institute of Technology in 1991.
Tao Yang, Chairman and CEO of Yalla Group, expressed his happiness for Al Hamli’s joining the company’s board of directors, stressing that he will play a pivotal role in strengthening the principles of control and governance thanks to his extensive leadership experience, especially in the telecommunications sector.
