Kilstein, who joined Shufersal 11 years ago as director of trade and marketing, made the decision to retire with the company facing pressure from various parties seeking to run for chairman of the board, instead of Mauricio Bior.

Bior was appointed chairman of Shufersal on behalf of the IDB Group controlled by Eduardo Elstein, which controlled Shufersal. Since then, IDB has sold its holdings in Shufersal, and the directors on its behalf have resigned, with the exception of Bior.
In his role, Kilstein is responsible for managing the company’s trade and trade agreements with all suppliers as well as developing the private label. Shufersal’s private label is the fourth largest supplier to the chain, responsible for about 25% of the food chain’s sales in 2019, which totaled NIS 12.6 billion a year. In addition, Kilstein was a partner in expanding the company’s operations into the pharm field with the launch of the Be chain, as well as expanding online commerce with a sales platform for non-food products.
Prior to joining Shufersal in 2009, Kilstein held managerial positions at Kinsey and Amdocs.
Following the Corona crisis, the food market has recorded a sharp growth of about 10% since the beginning of the year. It can be estimated that Shufersal’s growth was higher, due to its ability to meet high demand online.
